The private company Yeni Asr was established in 2001 in Shamkir region, northwest of Azerbaijan. Shamkir is located at near border of Georgia and is a strategic corridor for silk road and running oil pipeline Baku - Ceyhan connecting Asia with Europe.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTIC

· Production of agricultural cultures:
- Greenhouse (cucumbers, tomatoes, pepper and others)
- Ground (cucumbers, tomatoes, pepper, water-melons, melon and others)

· Production of canned-food

· Production of alcoholic drinks

· Animal industries in particular cultivation of quails.

· Railway travel paths two kilometers long.

· Powerful electrical substation.

· Three wells for constant supply of water.

· Separate gas pipeline.

· Warehouses
- Dry warehouse storage space up to 4000 tons.
- Warehouses for deep freezing storage space up to 500 tons.

At present private territory of the company consists of more than ten hectares of land, completely guarded by a stone fence. Company employs 150 people, who are provided with food, uniform and medical insurance for free. Five hectares of the land is a greenhouse complex completely covered with polyethylene. Greenhouses are constructed for growing of cucumbers, tomatoes and other cultures as well. Last year the company brought up cucumbers of a hybrid type "SULTAN" produced by Petoseed Company in California. The productivity of the crop has added up to 19kg per square meter. The greenhouses are equipped with dripping system. Heating is provided by central boiler system. Central filter system allows both simultaneously water and run fertilizers and equipment for outside spraying is also available.

Many different kinds of marinations are produced in canned food factory like, tomatoes and pickling. In addition natural pomegranate juice, ketchup, mayonnaise, fried eggplant, fried and dried onions are also produced. Total volume of production makes about 15-20 thousand pieces (one liter jars) per day.

The electricity is provided from Main City station and railway station. In addition there is a separate building for electrical supply with output of 800 amperes.

The module ORSK, 36*24m big and 9 meters high is installed, where the complete set for spirit production is implemented with full processing of vodka, cognac and wine. Tanks with the capacity of 1500 tons are also installed. At present no spirits are produced.

Also there is about 20 hectares of ground adjoining the territory. The construction of a greenhouse complex is planned in the future. The company also owns that property.

Chicken farm is located on territory of eight hectares and consists of administrative building two storage rooms 18*36m big and nine buildings 21*125m. There is also a separate heating system with the water well and electrical substation. Slaughter workshop is installed with production output of 15 thousand hens per shift (8 hours) and shock freezing as well. Company has rented 140 hectares of ground for 50 years. The breeding of quails is planned in the future.

All produced items by the company have a great demand, both on internal, and external markets. There are constant contacts both in the Russian regions, in Moscow, St.- Petersburg and Ekaterinburg, and abroad in Poland, Germany and Israel.

Yeni Asr Ltd. has constant contact to scientific and professorial structure of Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture. Constantly invites experts with assistance of ACDI/VOCA and Agro-consult.

THE PERSPECTIVE PLAN

· Expansion of the greenhouses up to 300 thousand plants simultaneously.

· Expansion of canned food factory.

· Creation and breeding of quails up to 1 million pieces.

Eagerly searching for a partner for further development of our facility. Interested in working with the investors also we can concede 50 % of the shares from the enterprise upon agreement. The trade turnover in the perspective should add up to USD 4-5 millions annually.

Beginning at 1994 after taking into account the state of the market the Milk-Pro Company assimilated the production of dairy produce of common profile such as sour cream, curd, katik (national yogurt) and so on along with medical dairy produce.
All the production is certified and has high quality.

The company is involved in sausages products manufacture and produce 7 types of sausage products (boiled, cooked, smoked, etc.). The company owns manufacturing mini-plant (140 sq.m), warehouses (270 sq.m.), laboratory (30 sq.m.). Sausage manufacturing equipment was made in Russia. The company's output capacity is sausage products for 60.000 US$ per month. The company also acts as wholesaler of raw materials and auxiliaries for sausage producing.
The company had participated successfully in Tutoring Project of Tacis Programme of EC. As the company has intention to expand its activity, it is involved in research activity in food-industry sector at present.
The company is involved in negotiations with Coimpex company from Corizia (Italy) at present to supply raw materials for sausage manufacture in Azerbaijan.
The company participated in 2 Europartenariat events (Lisbon'95, Lulea'96) and in World Food - Moscow Fair (Russia), 1996.

The company is looking for suppliers of raw materials and auxiliaries for sausage manufacture.
Besides, purchasing of meat-processing equipment or setting-up manufacturing joint venture to produce sausage products in Azerbaijan are also points to be discussed.
